Default 1970 Chevelle SS 396 spotted

I stopped by a friends shop Friday and while having breakfast with him this 1970 Chevelle SS 396 pulled up.

It turned out to be an old friend of my buddy and he wanted to show him his new car that he just picked up. He said it was an original drive train car with POP and he bought it from a local dealer here in the Los Angeles area that of late has been selling off some muscle.

I decided to grab my camera from my car get a few pictures before escaped. The new owner said the car had been repainted and the interior was completely original.

I figured somebody might want to take a look at this car so I'll post the pictures for you, enjoy.

Wow! after posting the pictures I realized that I really didn't take any good shots of the car...Sorry, well, a little of something is better that a lot of nothing.

Nice Bart. Thanks!! Don't worry about having fewer photos than you thot. Its kind of like when us mere mortal dudes are around stunningly beautiful women we trip all over ourselves . Same thing can happen when we are in the presence of cool muscle cars too!

Apparently so, if you remember a while back there was a big block wagon that was selling for quite a bit of money.

The story with this car is the dealer bought it or took it in trade from the original owner 15+ years ago and just sat on it, until now.

By the way Bruce, when you come back to SoCal in November or December, I'll drive the '69 down to Cars & Coffee on a Saturday morning where we met last time and I'll take you for a ride, but only if you make a video from inside as we stand on the loud pedal!

Thanks for posting the pics. Interesting to see a California smog big block (A.I.R. pump missing), and a no-stripe car.

If you see him again, he may want to look under the tarpaper on the driver side floor pan for a buildsheet. That's where the Arlington 70 Chevelles usually have theirs.

Boy it is hard to beat an original car that can be driven anytime. They made a bunch of SS396 Chevelles in 1970 but they were so popular in the resale market that there are not many nice ones left. I wonder how many green cars got painted red and had their green interior painted black with Krylon spray paint from Pep Boys.

Looks like a neat car but if you wanted to take it back to being closer to correct you would need to change the steering wheel and floor shifter.....neither are correct.
