Default L78 Purchase Questions and Help

I have begun the purchase process of a 1968 Camaro RS/SS. The odometer shows 17,XXX miles and after a lot of inspection appears to be correct. There is no paperwork with the car so I ordered the NCRS report which shows the cars production date to be 4/27/1968 from Pierson Chevrolet in Gadsden Alabama. Alabama did not title their cars until mid 70s so this car would have only been registered. Does anybody have connections and suggestions on getting title/owner information from Alabama? I have also started taking a lot of photos of the different parts and components of the car. What specifically should I look for to help document the car? The car has had what appears to be tow tabs welded to the front of the frame which leads me to believe the car was a drag car in its early days. I have listed the different part numbers below and would appreciate any help.

NCRS Production Date - 4/27/68
Trim Tag - 04D
Engine Pad - T0410MQ
Rear End - BU 0521G1 E
Crank Pulley - 3921923 BM
Bellhousing - 3899621
Alternator - 1100796 7H10
Holley - 3923289-DZ 4053 841

I can get any pictures or numbers needed that would help.

Thank you in advance.

Cool, I would be happy to help. My L78 was built early March 68 so it should be a solid comparison for dates. Thus far I see the rear and alternator are not original but you probably knew that. Is the partial VIN stamped on the deck?

I did figure out the rearend was dated wrong but had not determined what alternator is correct. The partial VIN is stamped on the deck.

Can you send me a picture of the engine pad? [email protected]
Did you look for the trans stamp?
