Default Dale Duster Nova

The January 2011 Issue of Popular Hot Rodding-Hometown Heroes- has a '72 Nova a fellow bought used at Dale Chev. that the salesman called a 'Dale Duster'. Says it had a 427 engine installed & 2K miles on it.Anyone know anything about these{hopfully more than one made} cars?

A 427 equipped '72 Dale Duster sounds late in the game but not imposible?.
See the below Dale Chevy advertisment that's been posted here before...note the Dusters are mentioned in the ad..
Dale Chevy was in the Yenko network too so if you're interested, try the search box here as there should be lots of past threads including some Dale delivered cars also I think pics of plate frames and a Dale dealer emblem?.

Thanks Pete. I'm assuming Dale would install any engine you wanted in a car much like the other more well known super car dealers.

As of the 1968 model year Chevrolet dealers were no longer free to swap or modify engines.

CDSIB 68-I-4 "Dealer Modification of Air Pollution Control Equipped Motor Vehicles" was sent to all dealers. I'm sure some blew it off but smart dealers knew the consequences. That's probably why Yenko formed Yenko Sportscars Inc and Baldwin Chevrolet had Motion Performance do the mods. Gibb sent cars to Dick Harrell.

As for Dale Chevrolet, the only known "Dale Duster" around here [10 miles from Dale] is an Ivy Gold '68 Nova SS that has been red most of its life. Has had a 427 as long as I have known of it. When I was with Camaro Parts Exchange one of our customers claimed to have a white/auto '69 Duster that was little more than a roller. Never saw the car or the paperwork.

Dale was a Yenko dealer for the 1970 model year. Yunker in Oconomowoc was the closest for '69. I have said it before but it bears repeating: Dale had a tremendous inventory of HP Chevs: COPOs, L78s, JL-8s, you name it.

As for the '72, the claim is hot air until it can be proven.

Any more info on the Dale Dusters? I see the old ad isn't clickable, so here's a fresh one.

I also spoke with Bill Dale last evening. He said at their peak, they sold 300 new Corvettes, and 200 used Corvettes in 1969. They also had 50 brand new SS 396 Chevelles on the dealership lot. They also sold two ZL1 Camaro's.

After seeing a display at a car show about what Dale could provide, in 1970 I bought a new 427 Nova at Dale Chevrolet. My trade in was a 1969 Z28. You had to order a 375Hp 396 SS Nova and for another $600 Dale would install the 427. I owned it for 4 years and put on 117,000 miles. It was a no frills light blue sleeper. Over the years I replaced the 4bbl carb with a 2 4bbl tunnel ram and eventually the Corvette Tri Power setup. Needless to say the Nova is fondly remembered. Also Bernie Adams was working at Dale. He was campaigning one of the early Funny Cars...A blown green '64 or '65 Chevelle he called Tyrant,
