What a beautiful building! I don't believe that I've ever seen another one like it. It must have been given landmark status. Too bad it didn't become a Chevrolet museum or something other than a coffee shop but I'm sure glad that they saved it. Ed

Agreed. They just finished renovating the interior. When I saw the work starting I was concerned they we're going to change the exterior. I made some inquiries, thinking someone here would be interested in the signs, and I found that the reno was limited to the inside. I remember seeing a picture of the dealership with what appered to be a late '70's Camaro right in the window, so it was operating as a dealership at least until then. I'll try to dig up that picture.

Wow! It's been a long time since I've seen that building! I used to buy parts there at Hallmans as well as Taylor (Winton Rd.) and Heinrich (Lake Ave.). My Dad bought his 1962 Belair from Hallmans as well as his 1971 Impala. I still have the AM radio from the Belair. Now it's a coffee shop! I'm glad to see it didn't get torn down. Next time I'm in Rochester, I'll have to stop in for a cup 'o coffee.

Pete,

Would you have the dealer code for Taylor Chevrolet on Winton Rd in Rochester? That’s where my car is from. I got to meet the original owner when he was in town last month. I let him drive the car and his hands were shaking so bad after a short drive he said he had to turn around and go back. He did still remember how to throw a stick after all those years.

Mike
