Yep, Hales Corners Speedway, watched lots of demo derbies there as a kid.

Remember Crazy Jim's annual Labor Day Demo Derby? Hales Corners Speedway also held tractor pulls, motorcycle races (the concrete wall was unforgiving...one racer lost his life there) and snowmobile races.

Yep! Crazy Jim. Didn't Crazy Jim also have a used car lot on 27th street? All my friends bought their high school beaters from that place, and none of them was more than $500. Good times.

Yes he owned Crazy Jim Motors. Home of quality(??) used cars. A colorful character to say the least. His name was Jim Groh...until he legally changed it to Crazy Jim. He also ran for Governor of the great state of Wisconsin...and lost. He was a player in Las Vegas...and got stabbed there over some disagreement. He certainly marched to the beat of a different drum.

The cars were super sketchy for sure. A buddy of mine bought an old Malibu with literally no frame behind the rear axle. None. He didn't even notice until I pointed it out.

Back in my High School days (early 70'S) Crazy Jim's lot was on 16th Street between National and Greenfield. Earl Scheib was just down the block.
