M/T Super Scavenger headers
Has anyone ever used these headers or know how they work, supposed to be circa 1970 Mickey Thopson Super Scavenger Repoduction Headers. They claim they "The main tubes are all of equal length with them being staggered as they emptied into the massive collectors that thumped out that unique Super Scavenger sound.

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
I am running a set on a 66 Chevelle with big block. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to help. There are also a couple of videos on YouTube, if you search Super Scavenger or Thompson Super Scavenger, if you want an idea what they sound like.

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
The pipes were/are equal length but they were able to achieve a pretty typical looking primary tube routing by stuffing all the 'extra' length inside the boxed collector.
I looked for a set for the Chevelle for years, but could never find a good set at a good price...so I ended up buying some old Appliance headers from Rick Pauley. |

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
Would not worry to much about exact equal length if they are mainly going to be corked up on the street.

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
I had a set on my 1 of 600+ '67 L78 Chevelle. Corked up thru the mufflers
it sounded like the collectors had a bunch of Ping-Pong balls in there at idle. WAY COOL. Dicky

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
Manufactered & Marketed through 1973. By 74, these were obsolete. The low performance was the big issue along with cost......These Came Out the Box ORANGE in color. (These weren't found on serious Street cars or Street-n-Strip cars).... CRAGAR had Orange headers a 1/2 decade before M/T.
Bill Thomas had Blue, others had various 'FAD' colors as well. The info pictured is from an original 1972 Holley Mickey Thompson Catalog.

Re: M/T Super Scavenger headers
I think they make a pretty great sound. But mine are not corked up for the street:
