Nice '69 Malibu, One Family Owned with Great Docs
Nothing special as far as drivetrain, but a great looking California car with a neat set of original docs including window sticker from Schonlaw Chevrolet in Hollywood.
Pretty strong money already...probably as much as it's worth IMO Link to 1969 Malibu auction |

Cool car. Why an M40 (isn't that the TH400) behind a 250HP 350 cu.in.? Did they opt for that? shouldn't that normally be an M35?
hmmmmmm, maybe they were going to drop a 427 in front of it and create a sweet sleeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ad seems confident its a TH350. If it is actually a TH400, I would guess that the factory A/C triggered an upgrade. I've shared before that I had a '69 Firebird 350/2bbl with A/C that had a TH400. It was an untouched car that I couldn't figure out why it had that transmission. Apparently engineering decided that was needed for the application. I'd be curious as to the reasoning.

Th 350...

I believe that even the TH350 was listed as an M40 denoting 3 speed turbo-hydramatic transmission in the earlier cars. The listing was the same for the TH400 cars...the engine/hp level was the deciding factor. -wilma * a rust free 69 Chevelle...V8 engine, Th, p/s, PDB, a/c, etc...bargain at $15k.

Exactly. M40 was a 3 speed auto, either TH350 and TH400 - the listed price would be different. The same way as M20 was 4-speed manual - either a Muncie or a Saginaw.
