I remember seeing Rick's car at an NCOA meet in Schaumburg. Plemmons still owned it at the time. I was judging the car with Jeff Dotterer, and we couldn't find much, if anything, to deduct points for then.
It looks as good as I remember it then.
Beautiful car Rick.

HELLO LES KITTRELL HERE I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU A QUESTION ABOUT A 1970 SS. IF THE CAR TRIM TAG ANS BUILD SHEET SAYS THE CAR SHOULD BE BE A RED ON RED CAR IS THERE ANY REASON WHY IT WOULD HAVE A BLACK DASH AND CENTER CONSOUL ?
THANKS

If the car came equipped with an optional center console, then that would be painted the interior color like Red,not Black.Only Ivory & Black interior Super Sports received black consoles originally.
The top soft dash pad should be red too.The dash front face around the gauges was always black,as was the steering column too, regardless of what interior color was chosen on a Super Sport.
Note the 4 smaller circles around the center speedometer should NOT be highlighted in silver,as the ones are shown in my pic. That pic was taken fresh out of resto in 1994 and they were changed soon afterwards.

Hey Rick, where'd you get the black circles around your speedo to make your car correct? Musta been available back in the early 90s. Most '70 Chevelles (particularly on evilbay) come standard with highlighted silver nowadays.

BTW - your L78 is a BEAUTY!!!

Rick, 70 L-78 Camaros were first built in January of 70. My Norwood VIN is 506735 and was mfg 01C as were several others Ive heard about. FYI, my eng assy is T1112CKO (Nov 12, 1969)

A few 1970 L-78 Camaros I feel have been incorrectly restored with the 1969 Style "J" hook left side smog tree.

I want to believe that ALL 1970 L-78 Camaros had the style of drivers side smog "trees" that your Chevelle does in the picture.

There is at least one diagram in the 70 Camaro assy manual showing your set-up.

I have never seen a picture of a ORIGINAL 70 L-78 Camaro engine compartment. Fo some uncanny reason, NO ONE can produce a real picture or magazine article back in the day showing a stock unmolested 70 L-78 Camaro

Can you support my thinking..........
