Default Indy Winner Tom Schumacher

Around the country back in the 60’s and 70’s everyone knew of The Rod Shop drag racing team. They were based in my hometown of Columbus Ohio....I went there many times with my dad. They had many well known drivers. In the 60’s they ran under the Ford banner...starting in 1970 they made the switch to Mopar. They won several events and match races. They kept a low key giant killer in their hip pocket by the name of Tom Schumacher...at match races of team vs. team they would put Tom up against the other teams ACE ...and more times than not ..Tom would put their ACE on the trailer... making easy work for the rest of team Rod Shop. Sadly we lost Mr Tom Schumacher late Sunday night at the age of 83. He is in heaven now giving everyone hell at the strip ! Here is a photo of class winner Tom Schumacher at 1969 Indy driving for the Rod Shop . It was a pleasure knowing this cool drag racer from years gone by.

Cool story Doug. Sorry to see this guy passing on, but what a legacy he leaves behind!

It’s funny when you blow up the picture look on the wall to the right and all of the trophies are lined up on it
