Air Cooled Powerglide
The first car I ever purchased was in May of 1972, a 1963 red 4Dr. Biscayne when I was 15 years old that had a 230 6 Cylinder and this Air Cooled Powerglide. I paid $25.00 for it and it did not go in reverse, but it had a spare transmission in the trunk. I installed it and it did not go forward, so off to Globe Auto Wreckers and "Fish" took his Michigan and flipped another 1963 they had over on it's side so I could take it's transmission out, and for $75.00 I had another transmission which went both forward and reverse. $200.00 total investment and some ATF and away I went. I got my Driver's license a month later on June 2nd 1972. Then I was driving my parent's 1964.5 289 "D" code Mustang hardtop (the 67th. Mustang ever made), thought that was THE BOMB! Being young in the early 70's was fun. Bill

Yeah, this one won't be going back in. I have a TH350 from my street rod that I will use.
I have a real PG from my Camaro, but it needs rebuilt and I'm not spending the cash for that.

In 1982, had a 1970 Nova 6cyl with a 2-speed Torque Drive automatic transmission. When it was in drive, you were literally in drive (2nd gear). If you wanted to leave in first gear (low gear), you had to do it manually. It didn’t take long and I swapped it out for a T-350.
