Default R59 or R59S Gurdjian Battery Co.

A friend gave me a battery knowing I wanted to gut and save as I had completed the surgery on our Delco Energizer Y55 for our 68Z. The battery given seemed to be a tired out R59S that I had plans to use for our 68 Corvette when needed but upon careful review questions arose. The side of the battery case reads only R59 and it seemed if I replaced the current caps with traditional red circled R59 caps and remove the “replace with R59S” sticker it would become a R59. One lower end has Cranking Power at 0 degrees F 2900 watts, and opposite end reads Delco-Remy Anderson, Ind. Made in the USA. The top area did not have a date code stamp which I thought was strange but upon looking at the bottom I discovered why with the following, “Not a product of Delco Remy-Mfg by GURDJIAN BATTERY CO.” The friend who gave it to me said it was in a car he purchased in 1993. End result I believe is it could be used for either the R59 or R59S. Had not known of these Gurdjian batteries prior. Surgery soon to begin!
