Royal charged $650 ($4800 in today's money) to pull out the 400 and install one of their Royal Bobcat 428/425 HP engines.

A “superfog” of smoke from Louisiana marsh fires and dense fog resulted in a massive car crash Monday morning involving 168 vehicles, around 9 a.m. Monday along a one-mile stretch of the elevated interstate. School buses were summoned to transport stranded motorists from the accident sites on the elevated I-55, which passes over swamp and open waters between lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas.

This is the first GTO to receive the back window treatment.

I'm told there were three: one red, one white, and one silver.

They were trying to determine if the window should be painted, or a sticker.

Ours was painted.

Anecdotally - this is the car George Hurst saw and based his Hurst Olds paint scheme on.

Here's a few cars mentioned in the last couple pages all in one place.

This is the inaugural MCACN in November of 2009:

Those crash pictures are horrific !! A miracle only 8 perished. Most must have been able to get out of their vehicles before the fire spread and consumed the whole lot.
There was a fiery crash near Hudson, WI Monday evening as well. A semi driver failed to see stopped traffic in a construction zone and plowed into the line at freeway speed. That driver, and the driver of the pickup he hit died at the scene. Both of those vehicles and the semi the pickup was crushed into all caught fire and burned along with more cars ahead of the second semi.
