Default X33 blacked out sill

I have a early 69 Z28 RS ( 549401) and I was curious if the rocker should be blacked out. The car has driprail Chrome,Quarter louvers and wheel lip chrome. The car was made 11/12/68 so it does not have X codes. From the little bit of web research I have done I think it should be painted.

Any input is appreciated, Danny

Danny, I feel an orange car should have the blacked out sill, just like the yellow R/S's do. The dark cars obviously didn't get the blacked out affect. My car was built 11D 547891. Your car was close to mine. sam

CHEVY blacked out the sills on lighter car so they looked closer to the ground, they thought that they looked better that way and it would help sell.

Fathom Green Z21/Z22 cars DO NOT get rocker blackout. Hugger Orange Z21/Z22 cars would get rocker blackout.

Rocker black out was applied to Z22 cars in '67 and '68, and Z21, Z22, and COPO cars in '69. There were some color exceptions...

1967:

AA Tuxedo Black
EE Deepwater Blue
LL Tahoe Turquoise
MM Royal Plum
NN Madeira Maroon

1968:

AA Tuxedo Black
EE Fathom Blue
NN Cordovan Maroon
VV Sequoia Green
ZZ British Green

1969:

10 Tuxedo Black
51 Dusk Blue
57 Fathom Green
61 Burnished Brown
67 Burgundy

This exception also applied to the Z11 and Z10 cars...
