Default '62 Galaxie 500 G code value

Looking at a white/red 4sp, 4:11 car. Very straight looks to be an unrestored or older restoration car with a build sheet. Title shows actual miles at 14k, and it looks like it, so you have that...

He's asking $45k...comments are welcome.

This just went for $57k, so I don’t think $45k is out of line for a nice car that presents that well. Like any other collectible musclecar, its all about verifying the pieces there. It needs to have a correct ‘62 solid lifter 406 block, C2SE-B or -C heads, a correct BW T-10 transmission, a correct trio of Holley carbs, 3” front brakes, Kelsey Hayes 15x5-1/2” wheels (they’re $2k a set), etc.

Neat cars (that’s why I’m tom406) but a bit of a niche collectible, as even Ford guys sometimes have to be educated on what a 406 is (only offered late ‘62 and early ‘63).

Would love to see pics if you get it.

Do Marti reports go back that early? Would be nice to have this if records go back that far. Good luck - keep us posted!

Marti reports can only go back to ‘67. Ford mostly purged the earlier data unfortunately.

Thanks Tom, I was hoping you would chime in...I got a couple of random pictures. We're still talking but he may have a buyer. I'm not reading much into his claims.

As far as the claims, I have no idea where the 1 of 27 number comes from (probably somebody’s registry from decades ago). “Date coded wheels” I’d like to hear more about, because they’re not correct KH units. Original KH rims have the welded center sections that are almost solid appearing, with the “vents” between the center and the hoop are just scalloped cutouts around the perimeter, not the stamped, contoured vents I see on the right front in that picture. Looks decent but everything would have to be dialed in for me to write a check for $40k+.

Unfortunately, the car sold to another dealer at the show. I just don't know enough about these cars to jump in to deep and this held me back. Really nice looking car and I have to say thanks to tom406 for the info!!
