Default First Post not Last

I am 76 years old and live in Southern California. That means i was a young adult at the peak of the Muscle car wars and so Cal was in the thick of it.
I got out of the Army in April 1969 and was looking for a new car.
Went to Folger ford in Monrovia Ca because they were a Performance Ford dealer.
Picked out a green Mach1 4 speed 428 cobra jet mustang. It came with 3.50 rear end gears.I had the Dealer install 3.91 gears. No AC just power steering.
We had three drag strips in my area. OCIR Irwindale Lyons.
With 300 miles on the clock i took it to Irwindale. 13.88 et at 104 mph.I was very pleased because most of the run of the mill Mustle cars were mostly in the low 14s at around 100 mph.
their was a class to race in called Pure Stock back then.that ment Zero mods allowed.I liked racing in this class . OCIR & Irwindale kept class records and i held the class Record in E pure stock at both tracks. My best was 13.39 at 108.56 mph. that was on stock Polyglass gt tires threw stock mufflers. On the street i won almost every stree race i had.i am a life long ford fan and owned many nice fords and afew cool GM cars also.My daily driver is a 2018Ford Focus ST turbo. Lots of modern day fun.

Default 66 Gt 350 $3000 dollars

In 1976 i wanted a 65 or 66 Shelby mustang. They were desirable in 1976 but prices back then were way less. A working man with kids and a wife could afford cool muscle cars.
I found a 1966 GT350 FS in the LA times clasified in Oxnard Ca about 60 miles north of LA.
the wife and i were the first to look at it and made a offer of 3,000.All the Shelby goodies were still on it. It needed some TLC but not much. It was white and my friend and i added the stripes.
It became my car i drove to work . At the time i was a Buick tune up mechanic.
I kept it for a while and sold it for the massive sum of 5,000 dollars
