1969 dusk blue Dupont lacquer question

I have found a person in AZ with 6 quarts of Dupont lacquer mixed back in 1991 that is unopened. I was wondering if the quality is there with paint that old? I realize the benefits of the newer bc/cc process, but I would like the original appearance of lacquer. The price is not cheap!!

You can still get some jobbers to mix you lacquer today. Besides If its not factory pack then how do you know its mixed right?

HI as long as the air has no gought to it it will last for ever get the guy to open a can stir it and post a picture GM painted 1969 cars with RM paint I AM A CAR PAINTER i have a1969 rally green camaro ordered paint from dupont is NOT A GOOD MATCH

I agree with Barry. How often is a factory pack actually close. For us it was about 20% of the time.

I painted my 72 Camaro the original Cranberry Red back in 1983 with "factory pack"... it turned out purple. Yes we stirred the paint and yes we mixed all 4 quarts in a new gallon bucket. Ended up restripping the whole car and painting it with paint mixed at the Dupont supply store. The cowl on the car has never been painted and that paint matches almost perfectly. When I paint it this time I am going to leave the cowl area in original paint.

Ive mixed up a code 28 in RM lacquer. I have all the right number tints for the job, but even with formula's and right tints, it still didn't even come close. Be careful.
