Re: NOS 65-69 Camaro Chevelle Nova 12 Bolt axle cover
Nice part, but wouldn't you consider the #3852998 to be a 1970 application too?
My October '69 assembled 1970 L-78 Chevelle has this non notched cover,as well as the few other non tampered with 1970 Chevelles I've seen. Always considered the later notched #3976857 was for 1971/72 applications. Maybe due to having to move the rear brake line TEE for the now behind the backseat, trunk mounted fuel tank vapor capture? Also,Chevrolet parts history shows the #3976857 Notched cover as early as September 1970,for 1971 production, but no earlier that I can find so far. First Chevrolet parts book page from Sept.1969. Second from Sept.1970. Third from Oct.1970 Fourth from April 1975. |

Re: NOS 65-69 Camaro Chevelle Nova 12 Bolt axle cover
Hi Rick,
You are correct I'm sure saying that this style cover saw some usage in 70 as a 70 Chevelle in my shop ,Nov. 69 built L34 has the non notched cover. Most of the LS6 cars that I have had have the notched style cover including my Feb 70 built convert so I felt the safe description of the cover was the way I advertised it. I'm also sure that with all of the research you have done that you will agree that parts books can have lots of discrepancies in them that don't always have 100% accuracy to them in regards to assembly line usage Chris |

Re: NOS 65-69 Camaro Chevelle Nova 12 Bolt axle cover
That's true Chris, they do,and because you stated for only 1965-69,is why I mentioned this.
Also the only 1970 parts book printing I don't have in front of me right now is the April '70 edition. If you,or anyone has that,I'm curious if it shows the #998,or the #857 @ that time. Also any idea why they came out with a notched one? |
