Default vin stamp an tag

buddy sent me this pic, LA car I'm have no knowledge of how these things are supposed to look, See any thing to scare him away?

When it came into the CRG db October 2000, it had no drivetrain. Now it has a numbers-matching drive train.

You be the judge.

To me the block stamp looks original although a little early in my opinion. My 10C Z-28 has a V1015DZ Stamp. The tranny looks to be a re-stamp though.

The block stamp does not compare to others in the same date range.

I have 8 other L507xxx Z/28s in my db and their engine dates are much later.

William's notes should be enough concern, but aren't the LA pads also supposed to have the VIN stamped on them?

Lets see the rest of the car?
