Re: Pearl Harbor...
Not much in the news today about that fateful day......Paris Hilton and Tom Cruise are bigger news than Dec 7th. Glad to see all the comments and gratitude for those who gave it all. My dad was a Seabee in the Navy during the last months of the war and told me many stories of those days in the Pacific. There were many imporatnt historical dates in the 20th century....but none more meaningful or tragic than this one. Again, thanks to all who serve.
wilma PS: saw a Pearl Harbor memorial service today going on in Milford, PA....nice to see folks paying their respects.

Re: Pearl Harbor...
I have the utmost respect for all veterans but for the World War 2 veterans the same is immeasurable.
As a young sailor I remember manning the rails as we sailed into Pearl Harbor and rendering honors to the U.S.S. Arizona. The feeling is incredible and something I will never forget. To all our Veterans I salute you and to my Son who followed in my footsteps, I am deeply honored. Rick H. |

Re: Pearl Harbor...
To show how far people have gone to forget what December 7th means: at work today they had an Asian-Pacific luncheon to celebrate what people from that region have contributed to our country. When I took a couple people aside to ask them if they knew what the date was, they had no clue. When I told them, their eyes just bugged out in embarassment that they actually scheduled this thing on Pearl Harbor Day.
Just Unbelievable. Of course all the veterans who worked there knew exactly what day it was and refused to participate in the "celebration." |

Re: Pearl Harbor...
My Dad flew fighters (P-47s) during the war, it is terrible to think that in a matter of a few years there will be little to none left from this era.. We all have to make sure these memories and respect for the hero's that served live on for the generations to come. God Bless the USA !!

Re: Pearl Harbor...
Today is a day we all should never forget. This was our parent's and grandparent's 9-11. The sacrifices made that day should always be remembered.
My work took by the Pentagon today where all the flags were flying at half staff against a clear crisp blue winter sky. I never knew until today, after reading 396L35's post before I left for work, the flag should be lowered today. Sometimes you can learn something else here that is not car related. |
