Default '71 Monte Carlo, Orig Manual Trans, 1 of 1?

Love this car - original 3 on the tree, but fairly well equipped with U14 special instrumentation and NO factory air. Might be a 1 of 1....

Cool Monte! Looks like the vinyl top was replaced at some point.

Actually the 3 speed was the base transmission with a 307 engine. The 350 is one of only a few options added, as was the gauge package. Very few Monte's I've ever seen didn't have A/C added. This is the first Monte I've seen with a column manual trans, but there were still a number of Chevelles being built with 250 6 cylinders and 3 speeds, so the column existed to install.
Intriguing car, to be sure, but I think his starting price is about all it is worth and the bidding kind of reflects that.

Incredibly unique car for sure! Just 280 3 on the tree '71 cars built. My understanding is the 3-speed was the standard transmission for the base 350 2bbl the 1st gen Montes came with, with the TH350 standard on the 350 4 bbl.

I believe that if you ordered the 4 barrel 350 engine (270 hp) in a 71 Monte, you were required to purchase - at extra cost - either the TH350 or the 4 speed manual.

The base engine on the 71 Monte Carlo was the 350 2bbl with the 3apeed on the coloumn
Optional was the 350 4bbl 4 speed or auto and the 402 4 speed or automatic
And of course the 454 ss with automatic transmission.
