Re: "Baby Pictures" of your supercar....
That's OK Steve, even your worst spelling is still better than some! I'm sure you know the Yellow '69 Camaro had some prior "personalization" after in left Van Nuys..... And, one of my all-time favorite body styles has been shown here....a '64 Cutlass 2dr post. In my opinion, that body is geometrically perfect; a few others are too, but I really like that one. The one pictured looks to have had a vinyl top added (don't think The General offered it on A-Bodies then) and the stance is darn near perfect.
Would Day 1 or Day 2 race cars qualify as "Baby Pictures"? I own two cars that are/were bona fide, lettered, real-deal race cars in their infancy....both as NEW cars! I have pictures of both of them and others that were destined for track duty from the minute they arrived at the dealership. If they ARE acceptable, once I figure out how to post them, I'll gladly share. If they AREN'T acceptable, I fully understand why.

Oh yeah, that's why it was so cool. I liked the all black replacement grill. It was originally a 325 horse car but the guy we bought it from updated the top end with 375 horse heads, solid lifter cam, and aluminum intake. It was classic Day 2. I especially loved the Cal Custom valve cover studs and wing nuts with the self-ejecting wings that would fall in the road and puncture the tires of anyone following too closely. I believe that day was the only time that it had all of the valve cover wing nuts in place. After that day, it shed them on a regular basis til my brother gave up buying new ones and just put some bolts in. |

Rick it actually has survived, the current owner bought it in Oct. of 68 used, still has it and lives In Ohio, now painted black. He recognized it because of the astro ventilation, very rare option in 68 for a full size car.

Re: "Baby Pictures" of your supercar....
Decided to pull out some photos of cars I have owned in the past. This photo is of my Z28 taken a Carlsbad Raceway in NM. The "shoe polish" graphics were applied by some of the regulars at the Machine Shoppe in Clovis, NM TAZ

I don't want to ruffle any feathers -- so if there is a better place to show these photos, let me know. Here is a shot of a 72 RS/SS I did a "restifacation" on. It had a 468 w/4sp -- ran pretty stout if you could hook it up! TAZ

Re: "Baby Pictures" of your supercar....
Great thread.
My 68' Camaro when the third owner got it from So.Tacoma Chev & used the SS396 to commute to work at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton From Port Orchard. Come gas crunch time she parked it in the adjacent garage. Note She said the RS emblem was on the grill as she bought it used that way, it was still there after a few repaints when I got it in 83'
