Look at those "CL" coded stamped wheels. Makes me believe this was an L78 (CL 14x7 wheels were Super Sport only). That is a real BM or MP Camaro - but I do not know if it is found.

In some blurb in one of the original magazines Marty used to work with, I distinctly remember the article stating Weston's burger joint (in Brooklyn??) was a popular hang out spot for drag racing and one night specifically someone rolled a Dick Landy Hemi car off a roll back truck to race against the local (Motion Peformance) talent. From memory the DL car was bought out of a magazine ad to street race...

Take me back

Dan

It was on Sunrise Highway, Baldwin or Rockville Centre. I shot that photo and I believe it was the first Baldwin-Motion Gen II Camaro, a 454 that was shown at one of the big auto shows, possible New York International in Manhattan. I think it was red with white trim and we were taking a break after making a few passes!

There are more pictures of that car in the Motion book. Starting on page 133.

I recall seeing this car in an article in an old magazine that I have. More than likely it is Hi Perf. CARS magazine. I am overseas presently, so don't have access to my mags, but I'm sure someone else on the board has a copy.

Looks like the car has a small one piece spoiler, so probably a 1970 car. My old 71 BM 454 Camaro had the big 3-piece spoiler and started life as a Z-28, but agree this car looks like it started as a 1970 RS SS 396 due to the single hood stripe and also looks like it has "SS 454" emblems on the front fender.

Tough looking car.

Wetson's that's the southwest corner of Oceanside Rd and Sunrise Hwy, Rockville Centre. Motion is less than a mile to the east on the right side. That stretch of highway saw some incredible action, the least of which was my first speeding ticket, pulled over right in that same spot.

I remember seeing an old pic of Joel standing in front of motion performance with a Buick grand national & what looks like this car. I thought it was possibly the car Les Quam owned & that he might have put a tall spoiler on during the resto....
