That style entered production mid '63 and the "O" is also used back that far. The triangles next to the rectangular sticker recess were much smaller when that steel valve cover entered production for '62 and was used to mid '63.

----John Z hit the nail on the head as far as the O is concerned. Those valve covers can only be installed one way. If installed backwards the rockers can just barely nudge the inside edge. "O" was for the assembly line workers.

As with anything Bill, some already knew it and some didn't. The "O" was stamped in them from the beginning in '62.
