Default 1969 L72 Biscayne

Was wondering how many '69 L72 Biscaynes are out there? I keep on searching for one but am going on year #2 and still haven't spotted one in person. I've seen a couple of pics on the net, but that's about it.

Anyone have one, know or one, or have some good pics?

Production figures aren't known except for total L72 cars, which I think numbers in the 500s.

If this site is correct, it's 546 L72s for full-size cars.

Mine is the red (Original Burgundy Car) one in the link above for members rides. It is currently in the body shop receiving a full restoration. It was a former race car in the Buffalo, New York area. Good Luck with your search.

Looking forward to seeing your car once the restoration is finished, Zach. Are you restoring it back to as-raced, or from the factory?

I'll keep looking. Heck, I can't even find a decent 2-door Biscayne, L72 or not. haha.

It will be restored back to factory.

Everyone remembers the car, but doesn't have any pictures of it so I have no idea what it looked like back in the day. I've tracked the history back to the guy that had it in the late seventies to early eighties. He said he bought it out of the Super Swap paper in Buffalo as an original car with a blown motor. He then had Jim Oddy build a engine for it and would bring it through the traps at 7 grand. It was Red with Bisquick in gold down the side. Raced the majority of the time at Lancaster.

Hi Tom,

Mine is a Burnished Brown L72/M22 from out of Michigan. It was purchased from one of the members of this site. Original engine is gone, but the rest of the car is there.
It's patiently waiting for my attention.( Once my 300 deluxe is finished!)

Through magazines and online, I count 8 L72 Biscaynes so far.

Zach, how's your car coming along? If it turns out half as nice as your 68, it'll be awesome!

Barry

Pete, I forgot to thank you for your post. Sorry about that.

Wow, that's pretty incredible, Barry. 8. God knows how many of these cars got crushed--people thinking they were just grandma's car.

Love the burnished brown. I'd would have ordered a brown or green one if I was around back then.

Zach, cool story...I spent some time on the strip at Lancaster in the mid/late '70's. Oddy did some head work and sleeve work on a couple of motors for me, good stuff.

Do you know what dealer sold the car? I know of at least a couple of special order L72's were sold at Glen Campbell Chevrolet in Williamsville.

FWIW, the track is still in operation...good luck with the resto

Mike
