Default 427/425 Biscayne?

What are the odds this is a real one? Were they available in '67? The ad doesn't SAY it's original, but its got that all important "rare" word in there.

That car has been on there before. Going from memory, I think "Chevrolet by the Numbers" says something like 12 engines built but no record of installation.

Hey Rick, help me out here!

A recent discussion regarding this issue.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...true#Post19807
I still have never come across a documented '67 425 hp which is a shame as it would make for a VERY neat car. I refuse to believe some dealers didn't install these as well and go racing.

P.S. can someone inform me how to post a link but shorten the address and make it look like "previous discussion" innstead of that long link.

From what I read, Chevy got nervous about handing out the HP in 1967. One late 1966 magazine article said that the 375 HP 396 was not available in the 67 Chevelle and the BB was not available in the 67 Camaro. Chevy changed their mind and made the 375 HP Camaro and Chevelle but info was not on some of the 1967 dealer listings. There may have been some 425 Passenger cars that escaped from the factory but it would be a small number.

This particular one looks to have a ten bolt rear, according to the picture on eBay (see attachment).
I don't know much about big cars, but that's not very likely is it?

Red 4 door biscayne was the real deal. I saw an article on this car in the 80s it had full docs including p.o.p. Also seen it run at Quaker City drag strip in Salem,Ohio. The rumor was 5 67 Impalas were sold with the hipo engine but I have never seen one nor have any been documented. If it were real it would have a 12 bolt rearend and big sway bar on the front.
