The midsize (Torino/Fairlane) 428 CJ cars received a hood scoop in 1969. A few of those pre production for 69’ pics include 68’ flat hood 428 CJ cars.

The Cobra was Ford's attemp to duplicate what Plymouth did with the 1968 Road Ruuner. Keep it simple - keep it cheap. But the Cobra did not have the success that the Road Runner had.
Cobra 2-door hardtop - 3,786 Cobra 2-door sportsroof - 11,099 In 1968 Plymouth sold 45,000 Road Runners. Maybe the Beep Beep horn was the magic sales item. Or maybe getting to market first may have helped. |

Ford bought the Cobra name from Shelby . They still use the image today.
