CE block stamping

Has anyone ever seen a CE block with a Assy date and engine code? The block is a 69 block with a MO code. This motor has been out of the car for more than 20 years. Did the dealer restamp it when installed as a warranty?

I worked at a GM dealership in the 70's and we didn't even have stamps.
Not aware of any dealers stamping engine codes.
JMHO, but I believe the CE stamp is legit, the MO stamp is a PO's wishful thinking.

I've seen a job number stamped on a CE block, but never an engine code suffix like that.

Would think that if a dealer was going to the effort of adding a stamp to a warranty block, it would be the partial VIN to the car it went into; the original assembly stamp on the block being replaced would have no relevance to it's replacement, and nothing to tie it to that particular car.

Except the protecto plate which would have those numbers in it.

True, but the P-o-P had the VIN too; the date of assembly of the original block is less significant on a warranty replacement, as the warranty was from date of sale not the individual drivetrain assembly dates.
IIRC the P-o-P issued on change of ownership for warranty purposes didn't even contain the drivetrain codes, just the VIN.

I would also think that the vin would have been more relevant. This did come out of a 68 Z the CE does not designate the motor as a 302 just a replacement block but the MO does show the engine being a 302

CE designates a Chevrolet replacement engine long block assy., short block assy., a fitted block; or a bare block depending on needs for warranty replacement. Any one of these would have a CE designation. This CE MO engine was probably a complete engine long block assy., IMHO.

There were complete motors stamped with build dates and engine codes that never made it into cars but this one being a 68 coded engine stamped on a 69 built engine doesnt make sense.
