Never shipped anything this big. Looking to ship a manifold and carbs when they are sold. Its about 36 lbs without packing. Dont want to kill anyone with shipping costs. Who does everybody use? And any tips on how to ship. Thanks. Mark

FedEx is usually a few dollars cheaper than UPS for whatever reason. I’ve used both carriers without incident. If you were shipping something smaller or less valuable, USPS is also a cheaper alternative.

I hate shipping manifold and carburetors in the same box. It makes for problems. I ship my carburetors in a 14 X 14 X 10 box, using custom cut one inch thick sheets of expanded plastic foam. One or two sheets at the bottom, one or two sheets up top. Never had any problems with them being damaged in shipping. Manifolds shipped in much the same fashion, always separately.

Good advice to Contact Eric...he sent me a tunnel ram intake and two carbs a while back. They arrived safe 'n sound without any damage or a mark on them.

Yep. I've had great success with greyhound. I've also had incidents with all the other major shippers.
I know this is extremely obvious, but I purchased a nailhead dual quad manifold and carbs and the seller packaged everything in a single box with crumpled newspaper as padding. If that's not bad enough, he left the air cleaner studs IN the carbs!!! Damage was pretty much guaranteed....broken choke horn and the box looked like it was stuffed in a wheelabrater. I was amazed that UPS covered the claim after I was reimbursed through ebay. |
