Here's a what if. What if the Bullitt Mustang and Jim Morrison's Shelby went together to auction, which one would bring in the highest bid? Yes I know Jim's Mustangs has never been found. I personally would rather have the Shelby, but then again I really like the Door's music.

The Bullitt Mustang hands down. It was part of THE greatest car chase ever put on film with the actor known as "The King of Cool." Jim Morrison and the Doors popularity were very short lived. There was nothing special about his Shelby other than he tired making a movie with it and failed. It has never been released BTW. It's title is HWY: An American Pastoral

The last time anyone saw his Shelby was right after he totaled it. He didn't buy it BTW. It was given to him by his record producer as a gift for the success of LIGHT MY FIRE.

No actor equals Steve Mcqueen's coolness factor except maybe Paul Newman. In my opinion.

Talking

How much over 10m estimate would it be worth if it actually was in a good movie and the car was a desirable year, color, or even a hi performance model ? We are talking about a car that without the movie is a plain jane 20k car.
Cool car no doubt ,mostly to a 70 yr old and up that was at least a teenager in 1968 but the hype on this one is way over the top.. Its future value regardless of what it brings wont be timeless ,it needs to bring the money now....IMHO

I disagree - it's value WILL be timeless. BULLITT still remains a very popular movie. It has been released on DVD, Blu-ray and will be released on the new Ultra HD Blu-ray. The movie holds up against time BECAUSE it is and will always be the benchmark for car chases. There are no uses of under or over cranking the cameras. No CGI or special effects. It won the Academy Award for Film Editing because of the car chase. Ford continues to make Bullitt Mustang versions to this day.

And it will bring the money now. It is being hyped for 5 months - then it will be put on the auction block for ANYONE to purchase. No private sale here. No anonymous buyer. And anyone with an internet connection can watch the sale.
