When I was stationed at Dover AFB Delaware there were 2 SS Camaros that color. one 350 with black stripes like yours from Salisbury Maryland and one 396 with white stripes. The 396 SS, the guy was a load master on the C5 and when he left on missions he always chained his car thru the frame to a street light pole with a 10,000 lb. cargo chain. Always thought it was funny to see that.

I guess you can see that as funny...about what I said. Just seeing that pic put that image in my head because where I live here in Clayton Delaware there is a load of old...really, really old people that drive still and most of the time it doesn't even look like there is anyone in the driver seat when your looking at the vehicle from behind. If your looking thru the front windshield coming at you all you see is fingers on top of the steering wheel and no head. My wife's mom, God bless her, was very short. All you would ever see when she drove was from the eyes to the top of her head. She wore these really big thick eye glasses and it looked very weird.

If you look at that pic you can make the case that maybe that is something like a police or firechiefs hat on the dash, or maybe a really short old lady with a beret or something like that. Remember..."Where's the Beef?" old ladies???

I was an aircraft maintainence specialist over 4 engines, frozen to the C5 at Dover AFB, but when I went to England, Mildenhall AB, I got way deep into working on all three. We did a lot of assists when the specialist came out at Dover, but it was in England and Germany that I honed engine changes and everything else from fueling to LOX service to walking on the top of the C5 T-tail to change that one light bulb that sticks way out back of the bullet. Yes it was fun. I can't tell you how many flashlights I dropped from C5 T-tail height. Can you say look out below??? real loud from 65 feet up??

When I was in England we always had a lot of the Pope reservist come over to help on their 2 weeks. I think they really came to drink at the pubs...a lot of them were begging to stay after their 2 weeks were up.

Where is Canton, Georgia Bob? I grew up in Atlanta, never heard of it. Heck there is a town called Henry too and I still can't figure out where that is. My ma was going to move there at one time but ended up in Phoenix.

Gary, Canton is just north of Woodstock up 575. It is about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I grew up in Stone Mountain and used to cruise on Memorial Drive back in the 1970's. I went TDY to Egypt, Panama, and Azores in the USAF. I never made it to UK when at Pope AFB. I mainly worked on the radar systems on the C130E.
