Default 1968 Camaro kick panel multiplex speakers

Hi folks,

I bought a NOS pair of front speakers and grilles for one of my 1968 Camaros. Wondering if the speakers would have been fitted with aluminum spacers to provide the necessary offset to the body structure. Would anyone be able to confirm on an original stereo optioned car? Much appreciated.

Tony

On the assembly line cars, they would have come with riveted aluminum spacers to the mounting holes. If you buy the GM accessory speakers, the spacers are not attached. Different spacer lengths for different cars.

This came up either here or on CRG in the semi-recent past, with pics IIRC.
