Hurst shifter identification
I came across this Hurst Competition Plus shifter today in my parts bin and was curious if it is anything special or just a run of the mill shifter. I searched the numbers on the housing but didn’t get any results. Thanks

The 6 digit number is just a serial number, not a date or application indicator...
Looks like a normal everyday Hurst shifter with handle cut off, mid 60's comp+ Hope this help... Crash |

It has a stop bolt on the front but none on the back
The rear plate will fit a Hurst OEM shifter because they did not use the stop bolts |

The patent number that is on later Hursts (3216274) was issued 11/9/1965. So should have been made before that, or not "too long" after that.
I assume it would have taken some time after the patent was issued for them to get the revised stamping worked into production -- but how long, who knows? (Like the Patent Pending Delco Remy distributor caps that were sold for several years after the patent was already issued.) Neat drawings with the patent app: https://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?Docid=...iew+first+page https://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?docid=...6RS=PN/3216274
