I was over at novaboy Dave's not too long ago and thumbed through a few lakwood catalogs from 69 anf 70 I think. I was surprised at the variety in 1970. There were several offerings. I'll see if I can get some pics from it.

Paul, can you ask Novaboy if one catalog from 70-74 could be acquired for my display ?
I just picked up an 82 issue for reference and need an older one.

Thanks, Tom

I'll throw this out there about J bolts.
They're for competition and high horse cars.
Optional on level 2 bars, Standard on period Competition bars and not applicable on base "street bars" or look at me clamp on bars....
I'll leave Paul with a more complete knowledgeable break down.....He's Good !

Square tubes came out first late 60's, rectangular rubes 1970 or so...but early 70's Lakewood sold both styles at the same time.
J-bolts were for the Traction action street/strip bars.

Another thing:

Traffic Action = non j-bolt bars
Traction Action = street/ strip bars with j-bolts

Please don't put Traction Action decals on non-j bolt bars...I have been seeing this recently.

Vast majority of bars I have seen over the years at the swaps are Traction Action with the J-bolt option.

If bars have the j-bolt option you do not have to run the j-bolts.

Original rectangular bars had an extended tail with a welded on tab for spring clamp u-bolt,, later, around mid 70's the extended bar stayed but the rear tab was gone and final version is no extended tab at all.

Early to mid 70's all the hardware had a gold tint with black phosphated nuts.
