Default Starter Sticking

I just picked up a Camaro with a 396 engine in it and started it up a few times with no issues and then on one of the starts the starter engaged and had to tap the starter to free it up. I drove the car home and turned off fine and restarted it and fine again? Any recommendations for what this could possibly be? Does the starter maybe need shimmed? Also I know the car has sat a lot the last 3 years could that have anything to do with it?
