Default Looking at a 71 SS454 Chevelle Conv

I was thinking about making the 8 hour drive to take a look at this 1971 SS 454 Chevelle Convertible that I saw on E-bay item# 261519614055 . Can somebody give me some pointers on what to look for please? I have always liked the cars but I only know about Camaros and Novas so this is something new for me. http://r.ebay.com/vq6VkH

Non Posi car on build sheet.
Wrong shifter ball, should be chrome.
Wrong Brake Master Cylinder, should be square type.

Looks like a very nice 1971 SS 454 at a good price though.
I know more about the 1970 then 1971 Chevelle's but it seems there is no TCS system under the hood as well.

No photos of numbers for the drive train though so I can't comment on those.

Great looking car,1 of 9,502,and only 3,035 got an M-22.
Code 13 Nevada Silver actually.
It's an idiot light no gauge car originally, and holding reproduction tach/clock/volt/temp/gas gauges now and looks like a repro dashboard too.
He added the tilt steering and the tilt knob is wrong.
I don't see him stating it's a posi.
Should have orange painted valve covers too.
Nice price,if I bought it I wouldn't change much,if anything.

Mark, that's 72 money IMO. Myles sold his 71 vert about a year ago,M-22 with paper same color combo nice car but took him bit to sell and well south of that #. That car has been on for awhile.

Stance looks a bit off to me but certainly a good looking convertible.

Mark
Might be a nice car, lots of detail stuff, maybe you can make a laundry list to negotiate with ?

Chy-Neez brake booster (my personal pet pev)
up side down and inside out cowl induction seal(almost a given with that brake booster )
Lots of incorrect bright zinc hardware under the hood.
Do the front coil springs look tired to you guys ?
SS wheel paint not even close.

Mark,
I just finished a 71 454 convertible Last year that I showed at MCACN. These cars are tougher in a lot of ways to do properly than the 70's I generally restore as lots of tough to find emissions parts are usually missing and not as easy to find
(At least for me ) as parts for the 70's tend to be.
There are many expensive to fix problems with this car if correctness and originality are important to you. Front fender emblem placement isn't even close to the factory location,to fix this would require bodywork and paint. Sport stripe dimensions are way off from what they should be, and as Mike said wheel finish is not even close to the correct texture and color.
Lots of interior and engine compartment issues as well.
Chris

Yeah, but it does have the elusive "A track" tape player!
