Default 1971 LS6 Auto Distributor

I have been going through old stuff that I will never use, basically weeding out some stuff to help with the finance of my newest project, I ran across a distributor number 1112054 0G27 says it is a 71 Chevelle LS6 auto, did they make such a beast?? This unit is quite clean never blasted or cleaned, also vacum advance is 439 12 but the hose end has been pinched off. I have never seen or heard of a 71 LS6 auto car?? Im at work I brought it with me, I will take a pic and post it when I get home.

The 439 12 vacuum advance is correct for both of the 1971 Corvette applications. I wonder if it's a service replacement part number?

They never installed the actual LS-6 assembled engine in a 1971 Chevelle for public consumption back then, but they did sell a few of these designated 1971 LS-6 Chevelle distributors over the parts counter.By no means were they plentiful, but I've seen a #1112075(M/T) also.
Yours is dated 1970 July 27th.

I use to own performance marine, and alot of wierd stuff came in on old jet boats and V-drives this is where it came from, in the late 60's and 70's the marine market-manufactures was GM's biggest customer more L-88 LS6 even tripower engines were installed in marine use than ever dreamt in production, still today Mercruiser is the largest pusrchaser of GM performance, really the only reason they still offer a production gen 5-6 block.. I was running numbers on some stuff and found this part real odd, It does come up in the gm books, but cant ever remember a car being built??? Had to be service part or?????

They did order up some components before they even knew they would be cancelling their designated application.Chevrolet, not to waste what they had already ordered, sold them off elsewhere like OTC.

I'm sure it is that same thing, a interesting part for something that never was, but holds the part number but never happened, Haw many exist?? has anyone seen one?? alot of things happen, even into the 90's I have a good story on that with a new Grand Sport Corvette I owned and factory backed stuff on prototype parts, I will save it for another thread..
