Default Transistor ignition troubleshoot

After 5 yrs. of faithful service, the transistor ignition system on my 71 LS6 needs attention. I know where I can find parts, but what about wiring diagrams? If the problem is a short or a worn out connection, an accurate diagram would sure be handy.

Have you looked at a 1971 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual?
They are very reliable,& accurate.
I have a 1970 that I rely on,or even a Motor Manual,they have a lot of meat to them.

I do have a 71 chassis service manual. I didn't recall it being that specific though, I've gotten used to rewiring mopar stuff, and I'm spoiled now. I knew this day would come, it's time to roll up my sleeves and learn something new.

There is a page on diagnosing TI problems in the old Chevrolet Power handbook. I think it was also in some of the old MOTORS manuals. I'll attaching half a page, but it may not be clear enough to read.

Mark, it's the orange car that's acting up, I just wanted to move it to another garage to get my wife off my back. Her 1 week old toyota sits in the snow, while my 34 yr. old vette enjoys a nice heated garage.

Hi Steve, Have you tried posting a question on the NCRS Technical Discussion Board? If you do, you might not get much of a response until after the weekend as a lot of guys are in Dallas for the Judging retreat. You'll likely get good advice there. Good luck, Mark

Steve,

------If you are a member of NCRS go in any issue of the driveline and there is an advertiser in there that specializes in T.I. Cant remember the company name right now but they do good work. They have an updated box with new innards that actually makes T.I. better.........Bill S
