Default 70 Malibu big block

Rick posted some pictures of this red 70 Malibu with a big block in it. I wasn’t aware you could get a big block in a 70 Malibu. Could you?

I'm only familiar with the 1971-1972 Heavy Chevy option.

Big Block was available in a Malibu 400 (the LS3 402) in 70-72.

I think that is Bruce's (Xplantdad) nephew's car?

Correct! This is not a real Malibu 400. Also Shaun Price (Galveston) did all of the amazing work on the Chevelle...which started off as a small block car.

See here for when I picked up the engine https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...ghlight=Taylor

And here where it first showed up at Pavilions

Actually, the majority of Heavy Chevy's were small block. The 400 BBC was offered in the base Chevelle line also, which replaced the discontinued 300 series cars, but were still the stripped down bare bones models. Not sure about the 70 base model. I'll have to do some digging.
