Default '69 Chevelle SS396, Desert Project

Maybe original paint.... Can't figure out why it has rocker trim and the lower fender trim, though.

Isn’t that rocker trim from a ‘71 Malibu? I can see someone at the dealer, back in the day, saying “why doesn’t my SS have that lower trim on it?” and on it goes...

Looks solid, but what a mish mash of wrong parts. I love the center console shift indicator. It has a 68 rear bumper and grille. This thing will need a lot of work. At least is is an SS.

It appears to have a ‘70 4-core rad top plate.

Tony, thanks for posting this Chevelle... I may never have seen it!

I’ve mentioned a time or two that I have another nephew that has taken an interest in musclecars and I’ve been looking for a project car for him. I was looking for a car that had good bones that we could enjoy... spending some evenings in the garage ordering pizza and turning wrenches to build him a nice driver and hopefully passing on a thing or two. Well, it looks like my Arizona desert project has this New Mexico desert project as a stablemate. These two Monaco Orange Chevelles are virtually twins.

I’ll be looking for a few 1969 Chevelle parts like (for starters) a set of bumpers, an SS grille, some correct eyebrow mouldings, door mirrors, and any ivory interior pieces... all in decent driver condition.

As much as I enjoyed watching the Dukes of Hazard, we might consider some alternatives for the turbine wheels.
