Default 69 Nova Body Side Moldings

What is the application time frames for the Nova body side moldings with tape versus paint?

Are we talking about the moldings that run down the center of the side of the car with certain trim packages? I thought the black was always paint, but I've only had my hands on 71-72 moldings. I never knew they used tape.

Yep, we are talking the Body Side moldings not the Rocker Trim. There are two versions of the Body Side, one is black paint (including the NOS pieces) and the other version is simply a 1/2" of black tape. All 6 moldings on our '69 have black tape, but I'm not certain if they are original to the car since it was repainted back in the late '80's - even though they have overspray on them. So, I'm thinking they should be tape...

Thanks. I never knew that. Like I said, I've only had 71-74 era moldings, so I just assumed that 69-70 were painted too.

I just checked the trim on the 70 Nova 10B car I have here and it all looks painted. It's a low mile 3 owner car that I doubt was ever repainted from all the lacquer checking around the car, but was for sure clear coated at some point. Don't know of the side moldings are original or not but guessing from the imperfections, dings and such, that they may be original?

Marlin,
I believe it's tape to paint. My 70 is a January built car, is unrestored and has tape.
