Default NOS Ford Autolite C3TZ-10505-B?

Any Ford guys out there? ...Was hoping to post this in the "classified" section but ran into a weird situation. Today I opened this NOS box holding an original Autolite regulator and discovered the part number on the box doesn't match the part number on the regulator..... Part number on the box reads C3TZ-10505-B but the part number on the top of the regulator reads C2AF-10505-A. Now my question is...Is there a similarity between these two regulators or is there a difference??? Can't understand why two different part numbers could be on one item! Once I find out why this is the case I will be posting it for sale. Pics below......Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Sal

Sal, I used to work for ford motor company. They would supersede part numbers all thi time. 10505 is the basic part number for a regulator. C is 1960, 2 would be 62, A is full size ford. Although with electrical parts that isn't the case. I would say it is just the next years voltage regulator. They both state the same 15 volt and 30amps. There was a book that we used called OSI, obsolete, supersede, interchange. Maybe one of the ford gurus on here has one and can check.

Thanks for the info Buddy. I'm not a Ford guy but would you know what some of the full size Fords these regulators would have been on? Any positive feedback would be great so I can move on with the correct application on this. Thanks again.

Most parts would be released to/by one carline and then used on multiple carlines. So full-size might be the first and the part # would show full-size. But truck and Mustang could also use it - part # wouldn't change.
You need a parts manual or application chart. I actually used to release regulators & alternators, but I don't have that old info.
