Default 1970 L78 396/375HP Shortblock Engine T1025CKO Standard Bore

This is a 1970 L78 396/375HP shortblock. This engine recently came out of a estate where it has been stored for decades. The man who owned this built a lot of 454 engines and I imagine the top end was robbed for a 454 build and this lowly 396 engine was put on the shelf. The pad is stamped T1025CKO which shows this is a L78 396/375HP that was originally backed by a manual transmission. The partial VIN by the oil filter is 10L136889 as shown. This shortblock is still standard bore and turns over freely. The cylinders have a very light ridge at the top and some light pitting from sitting. The rotating assembly has never been balanced. This is a very clean unmodified shortblock. I also have the oil pan and pump.

I am not sure if this came out of a Camaro. Chevelle, or El Camino. I have not searched for the car but it could certainly still be out there.

$3450

It would have had to originally been installed in a 1970 Chevelle/El Camino.
1970 Camaros assembled @ Van Nuys started their VIN with 500001.
As well as Van Nuys didn't start assembling the camaro until after January 1970,this shows a Tonawanda date of Oct. 25th,1969.
