Solid '74 Chevy K10 4x4 Pickup Project Truck
These square-body pickups are hot, and it doesn't get much better than an original shortbed 4x4. Pretty cool it was sold new in Tucumcari, NM. Actually it's amazing that this little town ever had a Chevy dealer at all.

----Noticed the misalignment of the truck body to the bed. It appears that the rear body to frame mounts have rusted away. If so that will require a pretty fair amount of work to fix......Bill S

I had a twin to this truck in early 90's. The doors and bed looked like a giant bag of walnuts and every panel had rusted. Even the rust had rust. I was hill climbing and hit a bump at 10-15 mph and sheared every tooth off the rear ring gear. The 4 speed trans broke at where it sits on the x member. Funny thing is I still have fond memories of it.

Per the statement in the ad... "The sag in the back of the cab is due to the cab mount bushings being worn out, not a rust issue."

I like these trucks, back home they always rotted out, and I didn't even live in salt country. Would look nice restored in gold.
After the GM bankruptcy, they cut dealerships from about 6000 to 3500 or so. Lots of smaller towns lost their Chevy dealers then. Stop in Tucumcari if you are ever on I-40, lots of Route 66 stuff to see before its gone for good. |

I'm finishing up painting one of these as we speak! This one is a 77. Neat trucks but if you run the zip code it puts you directly into Dent City!!!

Man I looooove me some Chevy short bed squares. I picked this one up off the side of the road for less then the cost of a new set of tires. Built in Canada and sold new out of Kentucky. Gotta be the cleanest short bed IV even seen.

Dave,
Looks like I am going to take some restoration lessons from you. This is my beater I picked up, 1977 Cheyenne K10 about 70% original paint and original drive line. What I like about this is I can take it to the beer store and not worry about some wizard opening his door into the truck as she has her fair share of dents as well. She even came with the "OE" half kinked hood like so many of these trucks have. Good old Dent City.....lol. Paul |

Does it have a 3 speed with a bull low first gear, or an M20 like the truck in this thread? (I didn’t know you could even get a manual that wasn’t a 3 speed with bull low?)

You got it, Paul! Although this one is just paint which I rarely do, but it's helping a friend out (again). Didn't know there was such a following with these things or I would have started a thread on it. See, the rock I've been living under keeps me from following stuff that I know nothing about!
