Default 400 Chevy Block or Shortblock wanted

Looking for a 1970-1975 400 chevy rebuildable shortblock (block and crank) preferably std bore that can go .030 over. Want to build a sleeper motor for 60's musclecar.

Thanks, Paul

Several blocks on craigslist around here, including a '70 4 bolt block. I can get links if you are interested. Most are around $400. Kind of far away for you.

My challenge with the 400 blocks is that most I'be seen have the short stamp pad and kinda gives away the sleeper part, as well as the funky balancer.

I think the TFS heads that are made to look like "fuelie" heads on a 1960's block with an internally balanced stroker crank would be the sleeper to build.

My thinking was to use lightweight flat top pistons, lightweight capscrew type 5.7" rods, aftermarket 3.75" stroke crank with larger counterweights for the longer rods, internally balanced. Throw on a set of old 292 ported turbo heads or I have some aluminum twisted wedge heads, off road solid flat tappet cam, possibly a stock Z-28 or edelbrock air-gap intake with 1-3/4" headers to make some nice torque and Hp. I would think 425-440 hp and 430-450 ft-lbs of torque would be possible. This would be fun in a nice gen 1 Camaro, with an M20 and 3.73 gears.
