Default Finding my old car

What would be the best way to find the whereabouts of a old car if you have the vin? Tried the state dmv and was told that isn't their job. They something about a lawyer could track it down but I don't know what kind of form they would use to find out.

There are a couple different Facebook groups that are for searching for old cars. Might want to put some posts out on those as well.

What is the VIN? You can run an NMVTIS and at least see which state the car is registered in, if it's registered.

A Private investigator can run it. I did that for dad's old Bronco.

Ain't no fun in viewing your car as an 'investment'. Get out there and beat on it!

Electronically. It costs money but you can find out more in the web address below. If the car is registered, the report will tell you which state it's registered in, not owner information

https://www.vehiclehistory.gov/nmvti...lehistory.html

Various vendors available. I use it everyday at work.
