Question Vintage Performance Equipment ID for my Dad's Nova

Hi guys,

My Dad owned a '67 Nova SS L30/M20 (I believe it was L30) between 1967/8 - 1971/2.

Can you help me out? I'm not super familiar with vintage speed equipment. I'm hoping you can help identify the mods on this engine bay by brand / model and the type of wheels the was running in both versions.

I have two different versions>

Engine: Mod 1 and Mod 2....Mod 1 I'm calling the orange intake with chrome valve covers and Mod 2 I'm calling the silver intake with finned valve covers.

Wheels: What wheels with white walls and what wheels with slicks and jacked up front end?

Helping me identify the parts will help in my search to recreate some day.

Last question...how fast would this setup have been against some of the quicker cars of the day? Legend is he put 4.56 gears in and it was a stoplight warrior.

Thanks for the help!!

I like the Gold pinstripe around the outer edges!

Stock height, looks like Torque thrust 2's for rims. They both have aftermarket manifolds, it looks like. Factory L79 chrome valve covers on the first pick. Neat car...does your dad still have it or you even?

Those are not white walls, they have blue stripes. Probably Good Year.

I've got a pair of 6 hole 8 1/2 inch slots like those. They are market Universal Wheel USA on the back.

Thanks for the feedback 67 Nova Boy/Dave!

Dad passed when I was little; he had sold the car and all his other cars in the early 70s. I've been looking for it.

Based on your '67 Nova knowledge, did this car have disc brakes in the front or where power brakes mandatory with discs?

I had always assumed they were white walls that were new and hadn't had the blue washed off.

Thanks for the idea on the Universal Wheels USA...I usually see this style wheel in 5 slot but these are 6 as you mentioned...

67 Nova's did have factory Disc brakes..looking at your master cylinder, it appears that your

dads Nova had drum brakes. It was a first year option on the 67 Chevy ll so it can be

added. Power brakes were not mandatory but could be had with drum or disc. My 67 SS

has manual factory Disc.

Factory Disc master cylinder...https://photos.app.goo.gl/cnEx46RdkySk2nu39

If you look in the lower left of the picture, you will see a "Dimple" that was there for the brake master cylinder when power brakes were added to the list. 67 only

It was not on the trim tag if disc or drums were on the car. Sorry to hear about your dad,

mine had passed in 85 and was into cars as well. Model A's were his passion.

Good luck in your quest in finding his car.

Thanks! So you can tell because the manual drum and the manual disc master cylinders were visually different?

And this was a 4wheel drum car?

I wish I could blow up that trim tag....

I've never seen valve cover vents like that before.

The intake manifold in the first picture looks like a L79 intake that has been painted orange.

Possibly Cal Custom aftermarket finned aluminum valve covers.

A drum master has a single bail to hold lid of master on where as a disc master will have two bails to hold lid on. Picture I sent is a manual disc. Yes, your dads car was a 4 wheel drum as most were back in the day. Remember that Disc was not a racing add on for power just stopping better. Disc won't be on the tag but it was an SS 327 car by the fender flags and the 327 numbers above the flags. If it was just a 283, then it would just have flags with NO numbers.
