VE Day...75 Years Ago.
Today marks the 75th anniversary of the official end to the war in Europe. It was certainly a time for celebration for countries tired of years of death and destruction...though for most the agony continued for many years as the rebuilding process took place.
The man in the photo is a neighbor of mine...he was a Navy gunner on a landing craft at Omaha Beach, wounded that day by German machine gun fire. I think he is about 93 years old now...the gal next to him is his wife of 70 years! https://www.militarytimes.com/off-du...und-the-world/
