1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
One of our forum members on the 428 Cobra Jet Registry posted a link to Craigslist on the forum this morning. I know this seller to be a brutally honest straight shooter based on several transactions over they ears. Perhaps someone here would appreciate the car. I only know the seller not the car and figured I would give them a leg up by spreading the word.

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
The 1972 LT1 is proven by VIN. Pending a motor/trans/body inspection, this is a VERY good value for an up and coming collector car.

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
It looks like a decent car, frame looks dry. The VIN should have a "Z" in it for LT1, Elkhart is a color I like as it was the color of my very first Corvette.

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
I asked for verification on the vin like you guys mentioned. Here is what we have: "The VIN is 1Z37L2S570383, and the engine pad has the number sequence stamped (12S570383), along with the larger font "(square)901 C K Y," which is also relevant. Here are a couple of pix of the data tag and the pad stamp."
You can email Kim directly about the LT-1 at [email protected] |

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
----Could the 1 in your 12S570383 be a small cap L? Then it would match exactly. Im not the biggest 72 guy but the black book says it should be a large cap L to match the VIN. Dont understand for a minute how a small cap letter would have been substituted but maybe the L got damaged and they used a 1 for the L until another L was procured?.......Bill S

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
Bill I asked and here is what Kim said.
<span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">" I can barely see a shallower capital L in front of the 1, off to the left and more forward just slightly--but it's there. The 1 in the 12Sxxxxxxx is definitely a 1. Here's a picture--I don't have a good zoom lens for my camera, but I think you can see the L."</span></span> |

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
Certainly a ground VIN on the pad, this is not unusual from the factory. Judging could verify that the VIN is is legitimate even with a ground pad. I had a 16,000 mile '65 with a ground pad. It happened.
I like this car........ |

I don't understand. This car's vin stamp follows all partial vin stamps for Chevrolet engine pads. 1= Chevrolet, 2= 1972, S= St. Louis, followed by the sequence.

Re: 1972 Corvette LT-1 Coupe
....Matt,,,Im constantly learning, even at 65 years old, but why would the engine stamp have a 1 when there isnt even a 1 in the serial #? Im not saying it couldnt, as I just dont know. Please understand that I fully believe this to be the engine that came in the car new for other reasons (the ground pad), and am in no way trying to knock it.....Bill S
