Default A couple of Oldsmobiles

Was at a car show the other day at the GM Tech Center in Warren , MI , and got a couple of good shots of my fully optioned dual-gate automatic 71 Nordic Blue Olds 442 W-30 and my buddies 4-speed Bittersweet 71 442 W-30.

Looking at this pair of very 442's--I had to remind myself several times that Oldsmobile had been put out to pasture-----------

That blue is sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

No offense to Cumby and the others, but Olds had the best A Body. You can't beat that hood, rear quarter line and decklid wing, not to mention that oh so sweet (and fragile) W-27 differential housing. Plus, they got closest to Mopar in funky advertising with the 69/70 Dr. Olds campaign. Cool sh*t for your father's car company.

Jeff, you are so right about the 1970-72 Oldsmobile A bodied cars. They were simply beautiful from every dimension and viewing angle. The Ram Air hoods were the coolest of all scooped hoods in my opinion. The Nordic blue along with Viking blue finishes are two of the finest colors ever offered by Olds. Thanx Motorcity for sharing the photos of two such fine examples of Dr. Oldsmobile’s W-machines. R.M.

Thanks for the nice comments. Im an old GM guy from way back. In my humble opinion, when it comes to a luxury muscle car, you cant beat the 442's. Those bulging hood scoops just look mean. Unfortunately, mine does not have the W-27 rear end. It is however equipped with almost every available factory option.
