Default September '02 Feature Car

Pete,
Car looks great. I would love to see it run at the pure stock drags. Let's keep those Novas honest

I can answer that: NO!

Pete and I were among the first batch of cars to participate in the "Certified Stock" tech. Brewer only attended 1 "Pure Stock" race (I think), then he ran in a couple of "Stock Appearing" heads up races against Dudek's Hemi, and at the Bristol Bash's "F.A.S.T." shootout. That car is QUICK! Any idea why he wasn't in Norwalk (FAD) Pete?

My first "Pure Stock" event he dropped a 12.5x on my 13.5x my first run! Needless to say I was taken back! A nice welcome to the big leagues I suppose...!

Phil's cam is a made up one I am told. I'm not sure if it would pass tech or not. All my cars I have used GM over the counter cams. Phils car is also extrude honed from one end to the other and no-one is really sure of his cubic inch. The car would not pass certification as it stands, but it is one quick car and pretty besides! At least he is honest and admits it is only stock appearing. Story has it, it WILL be ready for Bristol, so who knows what will happen..... he's been around the block once or twice!(punn intended)

Nice job Pete! Is it the quickest car running in the Certified Stock class? Are you running the Holley 850 DP?

Joe: Yes, as of today it is still the fastest certified pure stock car as well as pure stock. That could change next week-end, but I'll be there to defend my title! Yep...850 it is. 3 tenth advantage over a 780 on my testing!

Pete,
Cool car. What will it run with some modern Drag radials?

From the text, am I to understand that the 2nd owner still has the original L72 for this car? Or did Pete get it in the deal? I'd hate to think that someone else is having the original engine held hostage like Charley's ex-Porterfield ZL1.

According to Pete, the 2nd owner still has the original engine, but isn't ready to sell.

As for drag radials, in the MCR article where he tested his 3 cars, Pete dropped ~3 tenths off of his Camaro's ET just by going to DRs! His Nova dropped ~5 tenths!
